Recipe for cooking banana doughnuts

Banana Doughnuts

1 c. sugar
1/4 c. shortening
2 eggs
1 c. mashed bananas
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract or flavoring
1/2 c. buttermilk
4 c. all-purpose flour
4 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. nutmeg

Cream shortening and sugar together. Add eggs and beat well. Combine bananas, vanilla extract or flavoring and buttermilk. Add to creamed mixture alternating with sifted dry ingredients. Roll on lightly floured surface. Cut with floured cutter and let stand 15 mins.. Fry in deep shortening.
