Homemade Pancake Syrup with Variations1 c. sugar 2 c. water 1 Tbsp. molasses 1 tsp. vanilla extract or flavoring 1 tsp. maple extract or flavoring or 1 tsp. rum extract or flavoring Put sugar, water and molasses into a saucepan. Cover and bring to a boil. When sugar crystals are thoroughly dissolved, add vanilla and maple or rum extract or flavoring. Variations For other syrups, omit molasses and use light corn syrup instead. Substitute one of the following for the maple extract or flavoring: 1 tsp. coconut extract or flavoring 1 tsp. banana extract or flavoring plus 3 drops yellow food color 1 tsp. orange extract or flavoring plus 3 drops yellow and 1 drop red food color
