Recipe for cooking butterscotch caramels

" Butterscotch Caramels3/4 c. sweetened condensed milk 2 c. firmly packed light brown sugar 1 c. butter 1/2 tsp. salt 1 c. dark Karo corn syrup 1 tsp. vanilla extract or flavoring Cook all ingredients except vanilla extract or flavoring together in a lrg. saucepan to 240 degrees F. Add vanilla extract or flavoring. Cook to 246 degrees F. Pour into a buttered tin 1-in. deep. Press nuts into candy if desired. Cut when cool. "
