Recipe for cooking chocolate caramels

" Chocolate Caramels2 c. sugar 1 c. brown sugar, packed 1 c. dark corn syrup 1/2 c. cream 1/2 c. butter 3 squares unsweetened chocolate 1/8 tsp. salt 1 tsp. vanilla extract or flavoring Place all ingredients except vanilla extract or flavoring in a heavy saucepan. Cover and boil for 5 mins.; uncover. Boil to firm-ball stage, 247 degrees F. Remove from heat. Add vanilla extract or flavoring. Add 1 c. chopped nutmeats if desired. Pour into a buttered 10 x 6-in. pan. When cold, cut into 1-in. squares. Wrap in wax paper. "
