Recipe for cooking chocolate nut chews

Chocolate Nut Chews

1 1/2 c. sugar
1/4 c. cocoa powder
1/2 c. evaporated milk
1/3 c. butter
1/3 c. peanut butter
1 tsp. vanilla extract or flavoring
1 1/2 c. quick rolled oats
1/2 c. salted peanuts

In a heavy 2-qt. saucepan, mix sugar, cocoa, milk and butter. Stir over med. heat until mixture bubbles all over top. Boil and stir 2 mins. longer.

Remove from heat. Stir in the peanut butter until melted; add the vanilla extract or flavoring, uncooked quick rolled oats and nuts. With 2 tsp., drop on wax paper. Let stand until set.

Makes approximately 36 chews.
