Recipe for cooking cottage pudding

Cottage Pudding1/4 c. butter or butter replacement 1/2 c. sugar 1/2 tsp. nutmeg 1 egg, beaten 1 c. milk 2 c. sifted flour 3 level tsp. baking powder 1/2 tsp. salt Cream butter and sugar; add beaten egg. Sift flour, baking powder, nutmeg and salt together and add alternately with milk. Bake in nonstick 8-in. square pan for 30 mins. at 350 degrees F. Serve while warm with Plain Sauce. Plain Sauce 1 c. water 1/2 c. sugar 2 Tbsp. flour 2 Tbsp. butter 1 tsp. vanilla extract or flavoring Mix flour and sugar; add water and boil 5 mins.. Remove from heat and add butter and flavoring. Beat until thick enough to spread.
