Recipe for cooking double-look cake pie

Double-Look Cake Pie

Top part
1/2 c. sugar
1/4 c. margarine or shortening
1 egg
1/2 c. milk
1 c. flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. vanilla extract or flavoring
Lower part
1/2 c. sugar
1/3 c. hot water
1/4 c. cocoa
1/4 tsp. vanilla extract or flavoring
For top part, cream shortening (or margarine), sugar and egg. Add milk alternately with sifted flour and baking powder; add vanilla. Set aside.
For lower part, combine sugar and cocoa. Add hot water and vanilla extract or flavoring. Pour into unbaked pie crust, then pour top part over lower part. Bake 40 mins. in 350 degree F oven.
Serve as you like, warm or cold, topped or plain.
