Recipe for cooking fresh strawberry ice cream

Fresh Strawberry Ice Cream6 eggs 2 c. sugar, divided 1 qt. milk 1/4 tsp. salt 1 qt. heavy cream 2 tsp. vanilla extract or flavoring 4 c. fresh strawberries Mix eggs thoroughly. Add 1 1/2 c. sugar, milk and salt. Cook saucepan over med. heat, stirring constantly, just until bubbles appear. Cool slightly. Stir in cream and vanilla extract or flavoring. Crush strawberries with remaining 1/2 c. sugar. Add to custard and pour into ice cream freezer tub. Freeze using 6 parts ice to 1 part ice cream salt or according to freezer directions. Makes approximately 3 qt.. Fresh Peach Ice Cream Using basic recipe, substitute 3 c. mashed peaches for strawberries.
