Mayonnaise Cake

This is a very moist cake.

1 c. boiling water
1 c. dates, chopped
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 c. sugar
1 c. mayonnaise
2 c. all-purpose flour
1 c. walnuts, chopped

Pour boiling water over dates and baking soda. Let cool. Mix sugar with mayonnaise, then add dates, flour and walnuts. Bake in 2 (8- or 9-in.) round cake pans at 350 degrees F for approximately 30 mins. or until top springs back when lightly touched. Frost with powdered\sugar frosting or cream cheese frosting.
