Old-Fashioned Banana PuddingSource: Thelma Allen - Recipes from Sweet Yesterday 1/3 c. cornstarch 1/2 tsp. salt 3/4 c. sugar 4 c. milk, divided 1/4 c. butter 1 tsp. vanilla extract or flavoring 3 dozen vanilla wafers 4 or 5 sliced bananas Combine first 3 ingredients with 1 c. milk. Scald remaining milk; add cornstarch mixture. Stir over med. heat until thickened. Reduce heat; add butter and vanilla extract or flavoring. Cool. Alternate layers of vanilla wafers, bananas and pudding in a lrg. shallow dish and chill. May be topped with whipped cream.
