Recipe for cooking vienna torte

Vienna Torte
7 eggs, separated
1 1/4 c. sugar
1 c. all-purpose flour
1/4 c. cornstarch
2 tsp. baking powder
Pin. of salt
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
Beat whites until frothy. Add 1/2 c. sugar gradually; beat until stiff. Beat yolks until thick. Add remaining sugar gradually and beat. Combine the two mixtures.
Sift the flour with cornstarch, baking powder and salt and fold in carefully. Pour into 4 greased and floured 8-in. layer cake pans. Bake about 20 mins.. Cool.
Filling
1 1/4 c. milk
1/3 c. all-purpose flour
1/3 c. sugar
1/4 c. cold milk
1 c. melted butter
1 tsp. vanilla extract or flavoring
1 c. powdered’ sugar
Chopped nuts
Heat milk in double boiler. Mix flour, sugar and cold milk. Add to heated milk and stir until thick, then cover and cook 15 mins.. When cool, add melted butter; mix well. Add vanilla extract or flavoring and powdered\sugar. Spread this between the four layers and on top and sides. Cover well with chopped nuts.
